Kotel Prayers - Prayers in the Western Wall, Jerusalem, Israel

The Kotel is the Western Wall of the Temple in Jerusalem, the lone remaining fragment of the Holy Sanctuary. For centuries Jews have come to pray at the Wall, to shed their tears and pour out their hearts at Judaism's holiest site. One custom is for people to write out their personal prayers on small pieces of paper and insert them into the cracks of the Wall. These longings are considered holy, and there is a rabbi who is appointed to periodically collect them and place them among other sacred writings in a special building in Jerusalem.

The text is in Hebrew as well as English.

"I have heard your prayer,
I have seen your tears.
Behold, I will heal you."
     - II Kings 20:5
